Our innovative approach to vertical signage, combining active and passive safety

ACTIVE safety, as it has a presence detection system that warns the user in case of imminent danger by means of light, and, on the other hand, PASSIVE safety, as it has a shape memory to prevent damage due to knocks.

The SMART model bollard is the result of years of study and testing by the FCI Urban R&D department.

It is the first security bollard equipped with an autonomous signaling system. This allows detecting and alerting the passage of a vehicle, a pedestrian or a bicycle in areas with low visibility.

In addition, it is prepared to incorporate
Big Data technology, with traffic volume or weather situation sensors, among others.

Its operation and characteristics are the same as in a conventional polyurethane bollard, being a totally flexible element and very resistant to adverse conditions.

This SMART bollard is our first contribution to cities
smart, but at FCI Urban we never stop innovating.

Functional description

The SMART system is composed of:

• A detection radar programmable according to the frequency of passage or the type of traffic to be controlled (it can detect pedestrians, bicycles or motor vehicles).

• 1 master bollard and up to 99 slave bollards. All of them equipped with radar signal receivers and a system of LED lights that are activated with the desired configuration.

Communication between the radar, the master bollard and the slave bollards is carried out through Bluetooth Low Energy technology.

All bollards in the SMART system are equipped with solar-powered rechargeable batteries. Its consumption is very low, so a long durability is obtained. Additionally, they also have a connection to the electricity grid (for areas with few hours of sunshine or adverse climates).

Impact resistance: it is estimated that it can withstand up to 15 impacts from a 1500 kg vehicle.
